Active families will enjoy a wilderness hike in this mountain preserve–a large desert park right inside the city with multiple access points and a nearby visitor’s center. There are a variety of paths and great views, and the trails are marked well enough that you won’t get lost, but “rough” enough that you’ll feel like you’re truly exploring an old western desert. Remember to bring water!
