Prado National Museum

Calle Ruiz de Alarcon 23, Madrid

The Prado is the crown jewel of Madrid’s museum scene. This city center art palace is home to masterpieces by Raphael, Rembrandt, Velázquez, Tiepolo, and so many more. In addition to famous painters and paintings, the Prado has an extensive sculpture collection amassing over 1,000 pieces, photography and decorative arts.

As with any museum — even very classic high-brow ones like the Prado — there’s an easy way to make it fun and interesting for young children. Instead of exiting through the gift shop, start in the Prado store and let your kids pick out a few inexpensive postcards and then go on a scavenger hunt for a couple of hours. They will enjoy the chase while you will enjoy the art!

Bonus: Admission is free for the last two hours each day!
