Preacher’s Cave

Attraction

The original British settlers who sought freedom in Eleuthera – the Greek word for “freedom” — used this cave for shelter and worship after their ship wrecked on a nearby reef. Overhead, a hole in the rock illuminates the space. You can follow the cave in back (bring a flashlight) to climb to the top.

At the entrance to the cave, old steel box embedded in rock will stimulate kids’ imaginations with notions of a cool treasure chest. On the other side of the road, visit the usually isolated beach.

Things to Know
Bring a flashlight if you plan on exploring the cave’s inner depths. Closed-toe shoes are also recommended.
