Quinault Rain Forest & Lake Quinault

Quinault Valley, Olympic National Park, WA

Located in the southwest corner of the park, Quinault Valley offers another aspect of the Olympic rain forest. Some people prefer the Quinault Rain Forest because it’s less busy than the Hoh area during the summer and offers equally kid-friendly hiking and waterfalls. Try all or part of the 31-mile Rain Forest Loop Drive around Lake Quinault for waterfalls, trails and the world’s largest Sitka spruce (1,000 years old and 191 feet tall!). There isn’t a visitor center here, but the Quinault Ranger Station is open part-time during the summer as staffing allows, offering information and self-guided trails. Lake Quinault offers swimming, camping and a variety of lodging, including historic Lake Quinault Lodge. Note: The Quinault tribe has closed the lake to boating and fishing until further notice, but swimming is allowed.
