Railtown 1897 State Historic Park

5th Avenue and Reservoir Road, Jamestown, CA

This working railroad has been in operation since the 1890s and is now operated by the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. Self-guided tours are available during park hours, which are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., April through October, and 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. in the winter months. One summer and fall weekends, train rides are available on a historic steam or diesel train, taking passengers through California’s Gold Country. The rides are 45-minute, 6-mile roundtrip rides. During the winter, the train operates an official Polar Express.
