Ottawa’s Rideu Canal is a World Heritage Site. Families enjoy biking and hiking along the canal, as well as canoeing and fishing, and in the winter months, ice-skating and skiing. The Rideau Trail connects Ottawa to Kingston, while the Cataraqui Trail follows the old Trans-Canada trail system for a tamer walk. The canal’s Visitor Information Centre houses five floors of displays on the canal, while a number of museums are located along the canal.
