Family Activities:

Rim Drive

Attraction

The park’s main activity is the 33-mile Rim Drive scenic road that winds its way around Crater Lake, along the edge of the caldera and occasionally winding around ridges. It takes about two to three hours and includes more than 30 pullouts for views of the sunken volcano. Other stops and sights to see include Vidae Falls, a side trip road to The Pinnacles (volcanic spires), an overlook facing an island that appears to be a phantom ship, and a trailhead to Mount Scott, a 5-mile roundtrip hike to the highest point in the park with a 8,929-foot summit. If you want to focus on the scenery and not the driving, there’s an option to catch a two-hour trolley tour at Rim Village.
