Robert Louis Stevenson Cottage and Museum

44 Stevenson Lane, Saranac Lake, NY

The author of “Treasure Island” and other fantastical books would come to the Adirondacks in the summer months to rejuvenate and cure him of his “convalescence.” Preserved as Stevenson left it, the cottage holds childhood photographs, articles and even a lock of his hair. Closed on Mondays, the home is open July 1 through September 15, and by appointment in the fall, winter and spring months.
