Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum

Garden and Main Street, Sag Harbor, NY 11963, NY

Constructed in 1875, the Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum building was home to Benjamin Hunting II and his family. Visitors can tour the building and see the various rooms with their 19th century décor. Exhibits offer information on the whaling industry (which dates back to the 1700s) and how it helped Sag Harbor and other areas in the Hamptons flourish.

Open seasonally to the public, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. It is open weekends only, late-October through early November. Tours are by appointment only during the winter. Annual events include a guided walking ghost tour and a parade the week before Halloween. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for students and seniors; children 11 and under are $2 each.
