Schonbrunn Palace

13 Schonbrunn, Vienna, 1130

The summer residence of the imperial family, the Schonbrunn Palace is a grand baroque display in which storybook palaces take their cues. The Habsburgs once walked these rooms and halls, including the Hall of Mirrors where six-year-old Mozart amazed the crowd with his concerts. The palace grounds feature gorgeous gardens and fountains, a maze, and the world’s oldest zoo. Kids will love seeing more than 500 animal species in the Rainforest, South American and Desert areas, among others. Catch the Marionette Theater in the Hofratstrakt with elaborate puppets entertaining all ages. Special tours of the palace and grounds are also provided for children on weekends, making the UNESCO site more interesting for the younger set while mom and dad still get to take it all in.
