The lovely walk along the Danube Promenade affords fabulous views to Castle Hill across the river. However, there is one stretch that requires a moment of pause: the shoes on the Danube memorial. Here was where a group of Jews were told to remove their shoes before they were shot and sent falling into the Danube. You’ll find the shoes near the Parliament Building of the Pest side of the Danube.
