Head south to Vik (about 200km from Reykjavik) to see Skogafoss and its nearby waterfall brother Seljalandsfoss — two of the most stunning sets of falls you’ll see in the country. It’s well worth the trip: you can walk right up to the falls, stare up and be amazed at their power (wear a good raincoat, though; the mist will do its best to soak you). Sometimes you can even spot a rainbow appearing near the base of Skogafoss, and for a top-down view you can climb the walkway up the mountain to a small platform. The waterfall is extra beautiful at sunrise and sunset, so consider booking a hotel or guesthouse nearby so you have more flexibility to time your visit. Bathroom facilities are located near the parking lot.
