Family Activities:

Sleeping Bear Dune Climb

Attraction

Closed-toe sandals are not very helpful when climbing this 150-foot dune, but it’s worth it no matter how much sand packs into your shoes. Go early in the morning or after a summer shower for a cooler, easier climb up. Kids and parents seeking a bigger challenge can climb another 150 feet up a second plateau. Pack water and snacks if you want to keep going all the way down to the beach. It usually takes three to four hours to hike there and back.
