Sonoma County borders the ocean and visitors can check out its beaches and sea life from sea anemones to sea stars found beneath its rocky shores. Gray whales migrate past this beach from January through May, so visitors may also get a glimpse of whales from the Ocean Overlook on Bodega Head. Whale watch docents are available on weekend afternoons during this season. You may also catch glimpses of seals and sea lions throughout the year, or visit the Bodega Marine Laboratory for docent-led tours on Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m.
