Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center

27026 N. 156th Street, Scottsdale, AZ

This conservation center is even better than a zoo, because it’s dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals that are unable to survive in the wild due to injury, displacement, or abandonment. Kids can see and learn about unique species like the Mexican gray wolf, South American and white-nosed coatis, and javelinas, as well as more recognizable animals like porcupines and mountain lions. Some are permanent residents of the conservation center, while others are being rehabilitated for eventual release back to the wild. Bring the kids (ages 8-14) to the annual Discovery Day, or book a Walk With Wildlife tour to get an up-close view of the sanctuary’s animals and hear their stories.
