Lopez is often referred to as “slow-pez” for its laid-back attitude. The relatively flat island and lack of congestion is a haven for bikers. Rent bikes and lunch fare at Lopez Village and then head out to one of the island’s eight county parks. Four miles to the north of Lopez Village is Spencer Spit State Park, where the forest slopes down to the rocky shores. Sit on one of the giant driftwood logs and savor the serenity.
