Attraction

St. Simons Lighthouse

610 Beachview Drive, St. Simon Island, 31522, GA

Smaller than Tybee’s lighthouse, the 129-step climb is still enough of a workout worthy of it’s seaside views. The 75-foot lighthouse and its museum, once the home of the light keepers family, is available for daily tours. However, this is not the site’s original lighthouse, which was destroyed during the Civil War by the Confederates to prevent it being used by the Union soldiers. This lighthouse was constructed in the late 1800s, and the Victorian-style home was a residence from 1872 until 1950, when the lighthouse became automated. $8 adults; $4 children 6 to 11; free children under 6.
