Sunken Gardens

27th & Capitol Pkwy, Lincoln, 68502, NE

Lincoln’s Sunken Gardens are a true natural gem amidst an urban area, run largely by volunteers. Each spring, visitors can literally tiptoe through the tulips and enjoy thousands of flowers all summer long. The Sunken Gardens feature a Healing Garden (or White Garden), a Perennial Garden and an Annual Garden. Each year, the Sunken Gardens feature a new, themed floral display with more than 30,000 annual plants.

Admission is free, though donations are accepted. The gardens are open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. During the winter months, public services (like restrooms) are closed. Those services reopen for the spring and summer months (early April through mid-October). Since the Sunken Gardens are located in the heart of the city, parking can be difficult. Many families find it nice to park at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo and spend some time there before walking across the street to the Sunken Gardens.
