Hungarian baths are renowned, and of all the multiple geothermal baths available in Budapest, Szechenyi is the largest. Located in the City Park, the regal looking bathhouse surrounds an outdoor thermal spa and indoors features hot tubs and pools at every turn. The building can be a bit chaotic, as it is so crowded with locals and tourists alike. To enjoy a bit of calm, elect to purchase a massage in the private spa, which includes a quiet lounge with hammocks and couches, fresh fruit plates and drinks (not to mention Wi-Fi!). Kids are welcome and the lockers/changing rooms are much grander than the traditional. It is very confusing on how to purchase admission and where to go within the baths, and the private spa will also provide a brief tour and help you secure entrance tickets. Swimsuits and robes are available to rent, and flip-flops are available for purchase. Plan to spend a few hours here.
