Family Activities:

The Robert Bateman Centre

Attraction

This art gallery of the works of Robert Bateman, a Canadian naturalist and painter, is not just for adults to admire his works. Children are encouraged to visit and get involved with nature and art. Bateman’s paintings of birds, elephants, bears and more are so realistic they look like photographs. Bateman began painting professionally as a young child and today he wants children to enjoy capturing nature in a realistic way. Kids of all ages can visit the gallery, touch buttons in the birdsong gallery to hear the unique sounds from the sky, or participate in a sketch class that has kids getting outside with just a pencil and paper to capture what they see. Families are welcome to stroll around the gallery or take a 45-minute guided tour to learn more about Bateman’s works. There is an onsite children’s room as well where kids can sketch and create.
