On Bali’s east coast, the beautiful bay and black sand beach at Tulamben sits in the shadow of Gunung volcano and is one of the best places on the island for snorkeling right from the shore. Popular with scuba divers, the Liberty shipwreck, a WWII cargo ship, is a short swim from the beach and there’s also much to see here with just a mask, snorkel and fins. Vendors up and down the beach can rent gear and take you on a guided snorkel tour, too.
