Housed in a circa-1927 inn, the Venice Museum welcomes traveling exhibits. plus a couple of rooms holding permanent displays about local history. The kids will best like the fossils room, which builds on Venice, Florida’s reputation for shark’s teeth fossils.

Bestial sound effects play in the background, while kids can handle fossils and look at teeny shark teeth with a magnifying glass. Displays explore woolly mammoths and other creatures that once roamed Florida in days prehistoric.

Hours
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday; also 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the first and second Saturday January to April.

Admission is free, but donations are suggested.
