Underlining Vero Beach’s notoriety as an art-full destination, this well-designed museum resides in something of a cultural park on the island’s Indian River shores. Next to a theater, it makes special efforts to engage kids in the arts.

In addition to galleries hosting its own collections and traveling exhibits, the museum includes an outdoor sculpture garden, where families needn’t worry about being quiet and contained. Inside, a wing of classrooms includes the Eggert Children’s Art Galleries. Loaner drawing pads, Family Fun Guides, and SmART Zone iPad stations encourage family interaction. Programming includes Artful Storytime, Stroller Tours, and Turtle Tours for the young ones. Admission is free the last Saturday of each month.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday (closed Mondays in summer), and 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday
