Volleyball Hall of Fame

Heritage State Park, Holyoke, MA

Originally invented in 1895 for local businessmen who found basketball to be too strenuous, William G. Morgan created the game of volleyball at the Holyoke YMCA. Now played by all age groups all over the world, volleyball has become an exciting and engaging sport. The history of volleyball and its players who helped make it famous are honored in the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Opened in 1987, the hall holds photographs, uniforms and old-fashioned nets, demonstrating the way the sport has developed over the years. Families enjoy attending games and events that the hall hosts. The hall is only open Thursdays through Sundays.
