Attraction

Yaquina Bay Lighthouse

Highway 101, Newport, OR

No visit to Newport is complete without a climb to the top of Newport’s oldest building, the historic 19th century Yaquina Lighthouse. This grand old building has been restored and continues to serve as a beacon to ships at sea.

Kids will love the guides, who are decked out in historical dress, and their thrilling tales of shipwrecks and rescues. Keep in mind that children under 42 inches in height are not allowed up the 114 steps, but they can see the rest of the lighthouse.

Hours
It’s open for tours Friday to Tuesday.

Admission
The tours are free, and most tickets are handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis each morning. However, the lighthouse now allows reservations for some dates, so check into that if you want to guarantee your tour. There’s a $7 parking fee.
