Reviews

Good property

by 619phillipr

Stayed 2 nights at this property and had a great stay. All the staff we interacted with were very welcoming. Our room was very adequate for us, especially worth a mention is the bed and especially the quality of the bed linens that made for a great night's sleep! The spa and pool were also welcomed after enjoying a hike. While some of the previous reviews have commented on the obvious signs of wear nothing negatively impacted our stay. The room was clean and comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. Important to know that the location on the property is not in the town but there is a hotel shuttle.

This really worked for us

So, we were looking for a post-Thanksgiving getaway to do some mountain photography and wildlife viewing. Since this vacation was an "extra" we were looking for value. On my wish list was - fireplace, some basic kitchen facilities, and a quiet location. We weren't looking for a slick hotel experience.

Room- We booked the one-bedroom condo which was exactly as it appeared in photos. A nice wood burning fireplace, the kitchen was perfect for take-out and making simple snacks. The bed was very very comfortable and the deep tub in the bathroom a surprise bonus.

It is smallish. If you have tons of luggage or sporting equipment, this may be too small for you. But we travel light and it was fine. The rooms are a mix of updated and in need of updates. This is reflected in the price, so you're the best judge of your needs there. Mountain parks tend to take quite a beating being between winter skiers and summer hikers and things were as expected. We had many meals in, in front of the fire and found it cabin-like and cozy.

Amenities - We picked up meals a couple of nights from on-site Alpha Bistro and they were great.

The pool complex has seen better days. The locker room appeared to be freshly renovated. The pool could use some updating, but the water was very clean and we enjoyed a few great visits on our own.

If you need firewood, you call the front desk and it's cheerfully delivered in minutes. $8 a bag and it made a fire for a lovely evening.

Wifi was always good.

Location- For us, perfect. Away from the Banff main drag but close enough to zip in for supplies. Quiet. Easy access to Tunnel Mountain, Minnewonka Loop Drive, and the highway.

All in all, a great value for the attractive off-season price. We'd stay again, but I think I'd look at a slightly bigger unit for a longish stay.
