PLEASANTLY SURPRISED

by Anahid

On our previous trip to Maui, my husband and I stayed at a ritzy (very expensive) hotel in Waialae. It was very lovely - everything you expect from a 5-star hotel. This time, we opted to stay in Lahaina. At first, we were a bit unsettled about staying at the Pioneer, as it appeared to be an older property. Turns out it was the BEST hotel decision ever! Yes - it's old. But the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful with touristy suggestions. The restaurant was excellent - great service and incredibly good food! We really regretted trying Cheeseburgers in Paradise for breakfast, as the breakfast at Pioneer was exponentially better. And, oh, their coconut shrimp - best in Maui. Finally - I saved the best for last - location, location, location! Price wise - we stayed for 3 nights and paid less for the entire stay than we did for one night in Waialae! Only downside was that there was no elevator - however, staff delivered our luggage to our room.
Next time we are in Maui - we will definitely stay here again.

Hanging out in Laihaina

by Murry C

Enjoyed our 3 nights in downtown Laihaina at historic hotel across street from harbor where tourists gather each morning to catch their favorite tour boat. Its a great location for shopping and dining without the hassel of finding a parking space. The hotel restaurant was very good and included live entertainment in the evening. The room was comfortable, only complaint was the a/c window unit was a little noisy.
