Overview

Clean, spacious rooms and a prime waterfront location make the BEST WESTERN Valdez Harbor Inn one of the nicest hotels in Valdez. Families will appreciate the wealth of amenities offered with each room, which can sleep up to five guests on two queen beds and a crib or rollaway. Every room has a refrigerator, microwave, DVD player and coffeemaker. Ask for a harbor view room to watch the fishing boats and oil tankers come and go. There’s a free hot breakfast, with eggs, cereal, fruit, yogurt and waffles. The onsite restaurant, which is popular with locals, can cover your lunch and dinner as well.

The Inn sits right on the Valdez waterfront, with prime views of the harbor and surrounding mountains. Everything in town is within walking distance of the hotel, so it’s easy to find restaurants, shops and activities. Kids will love the Maxine and Jesse Whitney Museum, a new museum dedicated to Alaskan Native culture and Alaskan wildlife. It houses a huge collection of fossils, arrowheads, art and taxidermy, and has free admission (donations recommended). Also close by is The Valdez Museum, which is dedicated to the history of the area, including the Klondike Gold Rush, the Exxon Valdez oil spill and the 1964 earthquake that caused the entire town to be moved 4 miles to the west. The famed Worthington Glacier is an easy 30-minute drive east of town, while several other glaciers and wildlife areas are best reached with a guided tour. The BEST WESTERN Valdez Harbor Inn, with its amenities and waterfront location, makes a great choice for your family vacation in Alaska.

Somewhat outdated

Stayed here one night before boarding a boat to cruise Prince William sound. Hotel was interesting. A little outdated but perhaps typical for the area. We were leaving super early so we didn’t get a hot breakfast.

One Night Stay

We were on a road trip from Fairbanks and stopped in Valdez. Waited awhile at the desk for someone to check us in. The room was quiet. We have had better breakfasts - hot food were lukewarm rather than hot
