Great rooms, great location

by Dana B

A very nice lodge. We stayed in one of their King mini-suites. The bed was large and very comfortable. The room was clean. The jacuzzi worked perfectly. The sofa was comfortable. It made for a very nice vacation. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was walking distance from downtown Sister Bay. Only quibble is a minor one, the TV was smallish and located way up against the ceiling, a long viewing distance from both the bed and the sofa. It was difficult to see what was happening on screen so we barely used it. It was okay for watching the Weather Channel. Would stay again.

Cyberspace

We have stayed at Birchwood Lodge many times over the years. Unfortunately this last one was a nightmare! When we arrived to check in we were told we did not have a reservation even though in hand was a confirmation and reservation number received when I made reservations on the Birchwood Lodge website! We were told that our reservation must have been lost in "cyberspace "! Unfortunately they were booked for the 3 nights we had reserved. They had a room for the first night which they offered at no charge but we were out of luck for the next 2 nights. They did try calling a nearby establishment and we were sent to take a look. Well to say the least it was no where near the caliber of Birchwood Lodge or where we wanted to stay. We took the one night for no charge at Birchwood Lodge but it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth about ever wanting to return. Lesson learned - I guess you should never take for granted a reservation confirmation number! It certainly ruined our anniversary weekend!
