For a historic and charming hotel overlooking the ocean, it’s hard to beat The Breakers, located on Jersey Shore’s sleepy Spring Lake community. Rooms feature king, queen or two queen options, with the luxury rooms also boasting couches and fireplaces. All rooms are equipped with iPod docking station, DVD players, small refrigerators, and free high-speed Internet access. Cribs and rollaway beds are available. From Memorial Day through September (weather-permitting), the hotel’s pool provides a place to cool off during a hot day, while guests wanting to hit the beach receive free beach passes for the duration of their stay.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the hotel seasonally, with the Veranda Restaurant open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., then again for dinner beginning at 4 p.m. A limited pool menu is also offered in July and August.

The bathrooms are old and worn. Carpet in room was dingy and dated. Loud window a/c unit and refrigerator. My husband could not sleep. Very small room for what they charge. Clean white duvet bed cover was the only thing nice in the room.
While an old hotel, it has been heavily renovated and does not feel historic. The location on the ocean is excellent, as is the the wonderful front porch. The pool is also very nice. Some things are suprisingly awkward like getting a cup of tea, and when the hotel has an event such as a wedding, many spaces are closed and one hears the music in the room. It''s a long walk from the train station, altho a nice one thru the center of town.
