Perfection!

by Maps802632

We just spent a week at Cabanas La Luna with a bunch of families celebrating my 40th birthday. It was absolutely perfect! La Luna strikes the perfect balance between feeling like you are in a rustic jungle treehouse and a beachfront resort. The staff is warm and friendly, the cabanas are gorgeous with comfy beds, the pool is just right for all ages, the restaurant is delicious and the grounds are lush with white sand paths connecting everything.

The best of both worlds

The rooms are picturesque little cabanas with thatch roofs, balconies/porches with hammocks, and the beds all have mosquito netting like curtains, but you also have AC overnight, electricity, and wifi that actually works. It's within short walking distance to several other restaurants, a farmacia, and shops, but it feels like a private oasis and has its own excellent restaurant so you may not want to leave. Continental breakfast is included, but if you prefer something heartier (the chilaquiles are excellent) you get a $120 peso credit. The beach area is beautiful, but if the seaweed is bad that day, you can relax by the pool without feeling like you're anything.

We just came back from a group trip, and can't say enough wonderful things about La Luna and the on site restaurant, Las Estrellas. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating for our group of families w small kids. Dexter, the manager, met each of us, knew our names and went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect. Every room has its own character and all were great, but if you've got several couples or a large family, I'd highly recommend Zanzibar as it comes with an outdoor kitchen and private pool. We were also lucky enough to be there when we could witness sea turtles laying their eggs, and baby turtles hatching and struggling to make their way to the ocean. Really just a magical place.
