Weekend in Traverse City

by PieineartheOriginal

We stayed at The Cambria Hotel for two nights as a weekend getaway.
Our second floor room was very clean and very quiet. The King bed was just right with many pillows. Two big screen TV’s. Great Walk in Shower. The Indoor Pool was super clean with the Hot Tub on the other side of a low wall of the Pool. We really enjoyed the bar and dining area at Cambria. The Hostess/Waitress Georgia radiated Her Southern Charm while recommending great choices. She gave the best service. Seriously, this restaurant is Five Star! The chef, Deb uses only very high quality ingredients in her creations. Very unique to see extraordinary fare like this in a hotel restaurant. Another diner we met drove for 1-1/2 hours just to eat at this restaurant.
The employees are very friendly and very helpful. We will stay here whenever we come back to Traverse City.

Great location, extraordinarily friendly staff, responsive to feedback

The location of this hotel is great -- giving us quick access to most of what Traverse city had to offer. For Traverse city, I believe this hotel is cleaner and nicer than most of what's available. What stands out about this location, though, is the out-of-the-way friendly staff. Much of the staff felt happy to be there and made the atmosphere very welcoming.

I did have one minor problem, though. During my stay (and as of this writing) Choice hotels had been offering a deal where choice privilege members would get a $10 credit to use in their restaurant/bar or marketplace shop. Obviously this is not something expected, but since it's available, I tried to make use of it. They didn't seem to know about it, and when I showed them the promo on my phone, they said their hotel doesn't participate in this promo. I didn't make a big deal out of it because it's just a $10 credit, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth that there was absolutely no indication anywhere on the website that this promo was subject to participation by individual locations.

After I got back from the trip and received an email request for a review, I made clear that everything was good except for the promo issue. To my surprise, I got an email the next day saying that they've given me a credit back on my credit card because of the issue (more than $10). Usually you don't hear anything back from those kind of internal reviews (not visible to the public). This kind of attention to customer service is really commendable, and I hope to stay at this location again in the future.
