A Country Classic

by jodibenson3

I recently stayed at Clifford Country B & B and had a wonderful experience. Emily was a kind and considerate host who made us feel right at home. We woke to fresh baked bread and coffee every morning and enjoyed our breakfast overlooking Emily's beautiful gardens, while her foster puppy, Jinx, napped at our feet. It was an absolutely picturesque spot, and I will definitely be making a return trip.

Home away from home.... only better!

My husband and I spent five days at the Clifford Country B&B in September of 2018 and we simply loved it! From the moment we arrived, Emily made us feel right at home. Despite arriving at 11pm on Friday, Emily welcomed us by offering a glass of wine and asked what time we wanted breakfast the next day (no restrictions on breakfast hours, which we loved!) The next day we woke up to a stunning view of Emily's beautiful garden and mountains in the distance. After a delicious breakfast of homemade waffles, Emily offered to take us around to some of the local haunts, including a neighboring farm where we picked up milk and met the cows that produced it.
What makes staying at Emily's special is that it is obvious she loves living in Mt. Holly and offers a wonderful insider's glimpse into central Vermont living. She made wonderful suggestions about local arts and music festivals, shared local gardening and compost must-knows, and made excellent suggestions to local restaurants. By the end of our trip, Emily felt more like extended family than the owner of Clifford Country B&B. We found her lovely home to be the perfect long weekend country getaway.
