My wife & I along with our two small children just spent two nights at “The Coho”. I pretty much never write reviews, but after our amazing stay, I felt compelled to write a review. We stayed in the “Kid’s Suite” on the first floor which worked great for our family of four. This room had a separate bedroom in the back with bunk beds for the kids (which they loved) along with a queen bed for us in the front overlooking the ocean. Being on the first floor, our patio door opened right up to the grass and fire pits overlooking the long beautiful stretch of beach. This easy access allowed our kids to play in the grassy outdoor area while Mom and Dad sipped wine in the comfy Adirondack chairs around one of the four fire pits.
The room itself was also very clean and freshly remodeled. It was plenty spacious for the four of us. There was a TV + BluRay Player in the main room and a TV + Nintendo Wii in the kids room. Movies and games could be checked out in the Lobby for free.
The included (free) breakfast cafe was great for us each morning. There were plenty of food options available to please everybody in our family (eggs, sausage, waffles, muffins, toast, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, and a variety of juices and hot coffee/tea). Remember, this is a complementary “serve yourself” breakfast so don’t expect a 5-star dining experience. Expect a VERY convenient and well stocked assortment of good breakfast options to suit most tastes.
We also really enjoyed the onsite pool, hot tub and sauna. The whole pool area was clean and well-kept. The pool depth varied between 3ft to 5ft which was great for our young kids. This is not an Olympic size pool so don’t plan on swimming laps. The hot tub was also great. We were able to sit and relax in the hot tub while still being able to keep a careful eye on our kids playing in the pool.
Beach access was close and easy especially if you are willing to drive your car down on to the sand. By foot, it is a just a short, but relatively steep walk with a fair number of steps to descend/ascend. Once on the beach you can walk for miles in either direction. There are also some good tide pools too explore during the low tide.
One the real highlights of the hotel is the amazing patio/grass/sand pit/fire pits. The whole back “patio” of the hotel overlooks the wonderful beach below which is amazing for watching the sunset every evening. Several of the fire pits are nestled slightly below grade in a man-made sand pit surrounded by a clear glass railing. This allows you cozy-up in one of the Adirondack chairs next to a warm fire while being sheltered from the coastal winds and enjoying the great views. Make sure you keep an eye out for WHALES too! We had quite a few solid whale sightings right from the comfort of our patio chairs which was a huge bonus!
Last, but not least, I should really give a shout-out to the amazing staff at the Coho. Everybody was super friendly and helpful... Everybody!About 30-min after we checked-in, we got a call from the front desk just to make sure we had everything we needed and that our room met our expectations. This is something I have only experienced once or twice at other hotels... and it is always appreciated! A special shout-out goes to Nate, one of the property maintenance staff. He always had a smile on his face and he was always willing to take a moment from his actual work to offer up recommendations on places to eat, things to do and see or to just make a little small talk. We had a great lunch at the “Sea Hag” down in Depoe Bay (20min drive) based on this suggestion.
Thanks again COHO for the great beach vacation. We are already planning our next Lincoln City stay with you for later this summer.
Even though you overlook the beach, beach access is just around the corner! Centrally located in Lincoln City with easy access to Hwy 101! Friendly and knowledgeable staff were A++. Restaurants and shopping within walking distance!
