Refreshing Honesty -Please Read!

by Robert F B

I stayed in two separate rooms in that I asked to be moved to a ground floor room due to mobility problems. Unfortunately, this was to the building that didn't have the hot tub, which was my main reason for choosing this place. However, it was so unseasonably cold during my stay that I doubt if I'd used the hot tub had I stayed in that building.

However, here's the reason for the title of this review. When I woke up at 6 AM on the morning of 10/31 and got up to use the bathroom, I noticed that the door to my room was ajar and against the "hotel bar"! I was torn on whether to call the Fallon Police/Churchill County Sheriff or the front desk. I decided to call the front desk and the clerk explained that during the night, my room had been assigned to another guest. That guest found that the keycard wouldn't work. So, they had the guy at the front desk try his passkey. It worked, but the hotel bar had prevented access, and indicated that the room was occupied! The guy apologized as did the hotel manager when I brought this to her attention later in the morning. This type of "we made a mistake and we're sorry" honesty is rare in American business... especially the hospitality business and is a breath of fresh air. Congratulations to these folks!

The lesson here is always use the deadbolt on your hotel room door. Always use the hotel bar on the door. And, always put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on your room door while you are in there!

Other than the door ajar problem, the only other downer was that my cardkeys had been deactivated before I'd fully checked-out. Many thanks to the housekeeper for allowing me access so I could get the rest of my stuff.

Earlier reviews mentioned the quality of the breakfast and the situation with the stairs. The breakfast is indeed quite good with ham along with bacon or sausage available with a cheese type of mini omelette I so often see when traveling. As for the stairs... this place seriously needs elevators on both buildings.

Summation: First, a special shout-out to Dwen for her assistance with my check-in! Very much appreciated. I would consider staying here in the future. Business will have me coming to Fallon regularly for the next couple of years and I would not hesitate staying here again.

Decent stay

Stopped in on a road trip, no reservation but they had a room available. It’s a bit noisy but not more so than a lot of places. Bed was a bit on the soft side but clean and comfortable. The staff is what really made the place, very friendly and helpful. And, real complimentary breakfast, not just cereal, fruit, and waffles. In addition they had bacon and scrambled eggs with all the fixings. Would stay again.
