NOT WHAT I WAS ADVERTISED TO BE!!

by altinker

This is a low budget extended stay charging hotel rates because of the Shrimp Festival. Property is old, run down and dirty. Had to buy air freshener and cleaning supplies. Carpets are beyond dirty. After the office closes in the evening guests have no access to ice or vending machines. Would not be a place I would have booked had I known the condition or the truth about their target guest.

Beware!

I wish I had the option of giving this place 0 stars, but for this review I will settle for 1. Our family of 5 (2 adults/3kids) booked this establishment because of the availability and cost. It was a spur of the moment planned trip, so there weren't a lot of other options. After driving 12 plus hours we were excited to arrive, but soon realized that their antiquated booking system didn't have any sign of our reservation. After a nearly 30 minute ordeal they found another available room. However, they gave us a key card to a room that already had guests in it. So, back to the front office we went. They had no record that that room had even been checked out, no apology or anything. First impression of the room was that it was small, clean, and would be a decent place to rest our heads at night. We had no intention of using the room for anything other than sleeping. The grounds were well kept and clean. We didn't start to have problems until our second day after arriving back from a long day at the beach and realized our room hadn't been cleaned. (No clean towels, trash still piled up, no fresh linens) thankfully we were back before 10:00 (that's when access to ice machine/front office is locked up) and I was able to get clean towels. When I asked why our room wasn't cleaned the response was that we would only get our room cleaned once since we had booked for a week. I then explained that we had 3 kids with us and that we would at least need fresh towels daily for showers. The front desk assured me that we would get new towels delivered and old ones picked up daily. WRONG! For the remainder of the trip we had to go get towels daily along with new trash can liners and our dirty towels were never picked up. By the end of the week we had a giant pile of wet mess in the bathroom and when we would call to have them picked up we were rudely informed that we were responsible for them and not to remove them from the room. On the third morning while laying in bed one of the groundskeepers let the bug man into our room to spray. This was also the same gentleman that told our kids to stop eating outside and put our umbrella down on us while we were at the pool. Due to unforeseen weather we attempted to get a refund and planned to check out early. Front desk and GM seemed surprised by our comments and unaware that our room had never been cleaned but refused to give us any refund. The non refundable nights weren't as surprising to me as the lack of customer service. I felt like we were treated like beggars off the street rather than paying customers. Bottom line is, buyer beware.
