Massively overrated

by acaller

This is an impressive place to stay, but calling it a hotel, let alone a 5* hotel, is a stretch.

It’s a small box perched 30+ m up a crane. A rickety pair of lifts accessed through an improbable door gets you to your room. Room layout isn’t great, with a dangerous flight of steps between the duplex in the room box.

There’s no room service, no room phone, no USB charging port, no lobby... It’s not a hotel. It would be impossible to stay more than a couple of days. It’s secluded but not social, and when weird drunk people from a nearby shed wander towards you in the dark at night you’ll wish you weren’t there at all.

Edwin — the owner I think — provides good advance information which isn’t quite sufficient. It’s hard to find the “safe” and the keycards are unreliable. Although I arrived at the time I’d said to expect me I was unable to reach anyone for help. Fortunately one of the other guests had a solution.

Coming back to the hotel question, it’s not even a bed & breakfast — because there’s no breakfast! Surely it could have been possible for a 5* property to arrange a ‘delivery’ at least. Or a bar — even an honour bar.

The question is whether the location and experience justify the cost or make up for the shortcomings? They don’t. This ‘hotel’ promises so much and delivers so little. It probably makes the most of what’s there but it’s more like camping than staying in a hotel.

My advice, if you must stay near NDSM, Hilton Doubletree or Botel. Or stay in the city and Uber. That’s what I’m going to in future.

Crazy expirience

I must say this is totally wicked, when you have chance to sleep at (literally) crane, no chance this could be bad. Cosy rooms, interesting and helpful staff, great view from the crane, all in all very impressive!
I would like to come again defo!
