The Fiesta Resort All Inclusive in Puntarenas: After I changed rooms an absolutely great experience

by liebtdasmeer2803

I‘m really unsure how to rate this hotel, because all in all I had a superb time at this place and in Costa Rica. And I know the standards in different countries/continents are not the same. I‘m not a traveller who usually complains, I did camping before and stayed at locations/hostals/hotels in Europe that had one star and a very outdated interior but I loved it. One thing all my holiday locations had in common - they were clean which is very important, that includes no mould in the bedroom.

But the room I originally booked at the Fiesta Resort All Inclusive in Puntarenas and in which I only stayed one night did not meet my expectations. After one night I was upgraded to a different room in a different building. That room for me was truly amazing.

So I separate my rating of this place in positive and negative points.

1. Positives

The hotel staff is very very friendly and helpful. There‘s absolutely nothing to complain about. The hotel and its facilities/garden/location/beach are superb. I loved it. It‘s outstanding.

The food = the same. Great! Very tasty and fulfills all wishes. In fact I could only have breakfast and dinner because the buffet was so filling. I did not need the included lunch or snack bar really. Anybody who loves eating will love this ????.

I was travelling alone and felt absolutely secure at this place. It’s family-friendly though - a lot do to for kids as well.

There‘s an entertainment programme to enjoy which I did not need. But great for people who like this.

Even though there is loud music played at the pools during the day, you can retreat on deckchairs facing the beach and get a bit out of the way.

The premium building and its rooms facing the Pacific are an experience. I loved it. That room was very clean and had everything I needed (plus more).

2. Negatives

When I arrived I was put in a room that did not meet my expectations. The worst was that there was mould all over the room: on the ceiling, the inner and outer curtain and even on a chair. The furniture was not at its best anymore, but that does not really matter to me. The cleaning aspect was also not 100 percent fulfilled. But okay, I would not have complained about the cleaning if there had not been mould all over the room. I have asthma and do not feel safe staying in such a room. I paid a little over 800 Euros for 5 nights for 2 people all inclusive. I think the price is good for 2 people eating and enjoying everything all day long. But I was just 1 person and my friend (who was supposed to be person number 2) did not stay at this hotel and only enjoyed a piece of pizza or burger (no other meals) at the snack bar at night. But anyways that was my problem not the hotels. For the 800 Euros I didn’t expect luxury but I expected a clean and most important mould-free room. If there‘s a little mould in the bathroom I wouldn‘t say anything but not all over the bedroom.

For sensitive people it is difficult with the air-conditioning. Because the air is so humid you can‘t switch it off. This is of course important so no mould appears. The hotel helped me though to put a higher temperature when I asked for it.

I was upgraded to a room in the premium building after I complained about my original room but I had to stay on night with the mould because the new room was only available the day after. I did not have to pay the full upgrade price which was of course very nice of the hotel. The new room met all my expectations. This room was very clean.

So would I recommend the hotel? Yes, I would and I would stay there again. Because it has many positive things to offer and it’s very close to where my Costa Rican friends live. Maybe I was just unlucky with my first room and all the other rooms at this price are okay.

First time in Central America!

My first time traveling alone and this was the perfect place! The resort was calm and clean. The staff here are wonderful! I’m an American, so even if you lack the Spanish language they speak English very well. I stayed in the premium building. Premium is more private and quiet. They accommodate to all of your needs. You will never become bored as there are scheduled activities throughout the day. I learned how to Salsa! The excursions offered through the resort are breathtaking. That too should take up some time if you want to adventure off the resort. Overall, I felt safe and comfortable especially traveling solo. I recommend 100%
