Stabbing & Shooting in Parking Lot

by Guitarist_Wife14

My husband and I were guests recently. During our stay, we witnessed a stabbing and shooting just feet away, as we were standing outside on the balcony. The police responded and had to fill out reports. Due to the circumstances, neither my husband or I felt that we were safe on the property. So we packed our things, checked out with the front desk, and drove hours back home. They also charged my CC twice for the stay (which they've done before). They were gracious enough to atleast refund my money after contacting Choice Hotels repeatedly.

Noisy, Smelly, and Filthy

by Jennabeans

After one night in the hotel (room 122) we were forced to leave due to the conditions that we found.
First, as we entered the room we immediately noticed a horrible, almost rotten smell. I do not know the source of the smell, nor were we inclined to investigate, but even after running the fan to circulate the air inside it did not ever go away. It was nauseating and unbearable.
Second, the walls of the room were paper thin and while I understand that having a room with an outside entry will be noisier due to parking lot and guest traffic, we were not expecting to hear the other guests in the adjoining rooms urinating in their toilets. Also, it seems that the toilet in our room had a leak because every 30 minutes to and hour the tank would fill so loudly it would wake us up each and every time.
Third, the TV did not work. The remote wouldn't turn the TV on nor would the actual button on the TV itself.
Fourth, the room was filthy. I made the mistake of walking in my bare feet across the floor and the bottoms of my feet were covered in dust and hair and other unidentified particles. The duvet cover on the bed was disgusting. It looked as though it had never been washed and had hair and lint stuck to it. I also question whether or not the sheets had been washed in any recent history. There were long hairs on the sheets (not mine) and the sheets stunk of armpit or body odor.
The next morning I went to the front desk and told the clerk that we were not happy staying there and we wanted to check out. At no time did he ever ask if there was a problem or if he could put us in another room. To me that just acknowledges that he knows his place is junk.
I booked through 3rd party who contacted the hotel to try to get us a refund but of course they refused.
