Not worth the price

by marcotS3930SW

TLDR; We came on a road trip from Lima to Colca then to Arequipa. While Colca accommodation was great, this hotel is not worth the price they asked for. There are other places near the main square with better price/quality ratio.

First of all, although the place is far (30 to 40 minutes) from the main square, we selected this place as we were looking for quiet where we could rest. It’s not happening as there is now a huge party near the hotel.

Secondly -and this was my fault- I reserved a twin room and I needed a double room. As I saw few to no people when checking in I asked one of the bells if the hotel had low occupation. He said yes. When I asked for a change in the room after realizing my mistake they made a lot of excuses even saying the hotel was full (which was later a lie as there is low occupancy right now...as told by the counter). After much talking and telling then that someone told me there was low occupancy, they agreed to change the room at, for now, no cost.

Then, the rooms (and the hotel itself). This is supposedly a 4 star hotel and as such you expect some things. Well, nothing. The rooms are old (although clean), bathrooms are small, NO A/C (at least in the room I was assigned) making the room uncomfortably hot. Windows could be opened with the risk of being bitten by some kind of mosquitoes. They did gave us a fan, which proved to be ineffective.

WiFi is really -and I mean REALLY- slow. Even my 4G connection was much faster. Pool was filthy until 10 am. The small fridge in the room wasn’t working properly and when reported to the reception I got “Maintenance staff is not available until morning”. The receptionist himself had to come with a different fridge as they are short staffed.

Breakfast was 3 of 5. Not a big deal but I was expecting more as this is, supposedly, a 4-star hotel.

Although there were late responses to this issues, I am really disappointed and won’t be coming again nor recommending this place to anyone.

Good location for small meeting not ideal for tourists

by Jirecarol

Located outside Arequipa in a very peaceful area. Would not recommend for most tourists because it is not well located for persons who want to spend time in Arequipa itself because of serious traffic problems between the hotel and the old part of the city. It would be a good place for a meeting or retreat. When I was there there was a large meeting (70 persons???) and the staff was a bit overwhelmed but I think that it would be a perfect place for 25-35 persons to have a retreat/meeting.
