Pricey for what you get

by NorCalKimmy

As soon as you arrive at this hotel on the hillside, it feels like an old apartment building. There is a small outdoor area right on the road with a couple tables and BBQs and the front window where you check in, no lobby.
Our "Ocean View" room was more like a peek at the ocean over a bunch of buildings and rooftops. but you cant leave the curtains or window open because the only window is on the same wall as the door which opens onto the outdoor walkway to all other rooms.
The air conditioning is a wall unit which is set to Celsius only and ours kept getting an error message and stopped cooling every 1-2 hours which was not welcome in the middle of the night when you wake up hot. They sent their repair guy who did his best, but doesn't understand much about HVAC and would reset the thermostat just to have it error out again within an hour or so.
The bathroom was fine, nothing fancy with a small stall shower.
The full kitchen would've been nice if we were there for longer than a weekend,
For $300+ a night- stay somewhere nicer

Good price and location but

Had major issues with gnats in the room. I am not too sure if the previous guests had left food but there were so many gnats when we checked in. Talked to the manager about it and she brought some kind of essential oil which did not help at all. We had to swat the flies on our own since they were so many of them and couldn't go to sleep. We talked to another person the next day to see if there were any sprays or a way for them to accommodate us with another room but they said they were fully booked. I appreciate the manager bringing us the essential oil but I think they really need to find a better way to resolve the issue.
