Overview

The Embassy Suites by Hilton San Antonio River Walk-Downtown is, indeed, located on the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. The all-suite property features spacious accommodations with kitchenettes and sleeper sofas — the biggest room sleeps eight — plus a sparkling rooftop pool, complimentary breakfast and easy access to all of the fun in San Antonio. There are plenty of stunning views to go around, too. In fact, one of the hotel’s gardens is so beautiful that it’s become one of the most photographed attractions in San Antonio. All of your friends on Instagram will be jealous, we promise.

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

The hotel's accommodations are perhaps its best feature. Deluxe suites welcome families with separate bedrooms, sleeper sofas, flat-screen TVs and spacious kitchenettes with mini-fridges, microwaves and coffeemakers. Most rooms offer shower/tub combinations, as well, and cribs and rollaway beds are available upon request. The hotel offers several room variations, though the layouts are largely the same for all; these are the best options for families:

2 Bedroom/2 Bath Suite-1 King
This room has two bedrooms -- one with a king bed and another with two double or queen beds. There's also a sleeper sofa in the living area. It sleeps a total of eight guests.

2 Room Corner Suite Premium Suite/2 Queen Beds
These suites are some of the most spacious, with expansive living areas. They have two queen beds and a sleeper sofa to sleep a total of six. This room features city or River Walk views, the latter of which come at a premium.

2 Room Premium Suite
This room has one king bed or two queens, along with a sleeper sofa. It sleeps six and features views of the city or River Walk.

Relaxing get away

by PatriciaA854

We visit San Antonio often and have stayed at different hotels along the river walk. I’ve really enjoyed our stay here. It’s comfortable and the staff are competent and friendly, even our room cleaner, which is unusual in my experience. Had room service and the food was excellent, a bit late in delivery but still hot. Breakfast was very generous and good. Will definitely come here again.

Riverwalk is the place to be in San Antonio during Day of the Dead.

by Stephen W

Cindy (my Bride of 25+ years) and I spent a week in San Antonio for "Day of the Dead" festivities and used the Riverwalk Embassy Suite as our home base. Starting with a great breakfast and then being within a comfortable walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see/do we are already making plans to be back and stay at the Embassy Suites Riverwalk next year. The staff, especially Jesus, were/are great and helpful and everything you would want/expect in a downtown hotel. We were there from end of October until the 5th of November.

Family Activities

Pool
The hotel has a lovely rooftop pool, adjacent to a hot tub. Both the pool and hot tub are surrounded by chaise loungers and comfy chairs -- perfect for enjoying after a busy day spent exploring. In the summer, light bites and cocktails are served at a poolside bar. The pool is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Family Dining

Complimentary Breakfast
The hotel offers made-to-order breakfast each morning in a setting that feels more like a restaurant and well, less like a place that offers free breakfast! It serves made-to-order eggs and omelets, and anything else you can imagine -- cold and hot cereals, pastries, pancakes, fruit, juice, coffee and more. Breakfast is served 6 to 10 a.m. on weekdays, and 7 to 11 a.m. on weekends. High chairs are available, as is minimal outdoor seating that overlooks the River Walk.

Evening Receptions
After visiting the Alamo, SeaWorld and other notable attractions with San Antonio, retreat to the hotel for an evening reception. The events, hosted daily, include complimentary cocktails and appetizers for mom and dad, along with special treats for kids.

Lüke
The hotel is connected to (but not affiliated with) Lüke, a restaurant that features French and German fare with a side of New Orleans. While it isn't over-the-top fancy, the restaurant's atmosphere and food offerings are best reserved for families with teens, or parents. If you decide to bring young children, kid-size portions of regular options are available upon request. The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi isn't free at the hotel; there is a charge of $9.95 per day, with high-speed access available for a few more dollars (also per day). You'll avoid this fee if you use the computers in the business center, right by the lobby, or if you sign up to become a member of Hilton Honors, which is complimentary.

Airline Kiosk
The hotel provides a kiosk where you can easily print your airline boarding passes. It is located next to the front desk.

Pantry
The onsite pantry, open 24 hours, sells snacks, toiletries, beverages and most importantly, ice cream. All items can be charged to your room.

Fitness Center
The hotel has a small fitness center with free weights and cardio equipment. It's open 24 hours with key card access.

Laundry Facility
If you need to do laundry while at the hotel, visit the onsite, coin-operated washers and dryers. Detergent is available for purchase at the pantry by the lobby.

Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in is at 4 p.m. and check-out is at noon.

The Art of Smart Timing
The hotel is consistently busy with a mix of both leisure and corporate travelers. While summer and spring are the most popular seasons for families to visit the hotel and San Antonio, you might want to consider a trip at the end of summer (or even the fall), when the crowds and temperatures lessen.

Getting There
Fly into San Antonio International Airport, a short drive from the hotel. The drive should take you less than 30 minutes, but rush hour traffic may up your ETA.

Getting Around
You don't need a car to get around downtown San Antonio -- especially since the hotel is located right on the River Walk! You will, however, need a car to get to locations outside of the downtown district, such as SeaWorld San Antonio, Morgan's Wonderland and the DoSeum. The hotel doesn't offer self-parking, but valet parking is available for $30 per day.

For Mom and Dad
Grab a spot at the bar at Lüke, and order a handcrafted cocktail, local wine or craft beer (or several) before dinner. You might also consider dinner at famed Boudros, a short walk from the hotel. Make a reservation in plenty of advance, and order the guacamole.
