The hotel is old, and is very much in need of a remodel... but really, the problem is staff that just don’t care.
I entered the hotel next to an employee smoking a cigarette about two feet from the door, and that was really a sign of what was to greet me inside. I tried to get physical keys at the desk, but there was a long line and the staff didn’t seem to care, so I used my digital key to get into my room. No water bottles (we’re gold level) so I assumed that they would hand that to my husband when he checked in a little later. The room smelled musty. The shower was still dripping. The bed hadn’t been made properly. The toilet was scratched and stained. The ironing board was damaged and I was concerned about using it. The iron was still full of nasty water. At this point, my husband arrived, fully frustrated with the reception desk staff. We were just in time for an anniversary event, so we didn’t have time to reengage with the staff. We texted the hotel concierge as directed by the sign in the room. No response. We left, and came back at about 10pm. I asked the front desk about the water. The bag was waiting at the desk (they knew we had checked in) and got it with a “here” and an eye roll. An hour later, we received a message back from the concierge (who we had texted five hours previously). Skipped breakfast when I saw a staff member wipe their hands on their pants and then touch the food. When we left, the key drop was broken and we had difficulty checking out. Would not stay here again. Does not meet the Hilton standard for hospitality, attention to detail, or cleanliness.
This hotel is in serious need of a remodel! Our room had a peeling ceiling, rust throughout the bathtub, dirty wallpaper and carpet. While the breakfast was delicious, people were throwing ice from the top floor into the Atrium and no one from the hotel was dealing with it. When I complained about the room condition, Tammy, at the front desk was lovely and said that she would refund some of my points. I thought that was a very nice gesture, however, that never happened and my texts to Tammy have now gone unanswered. I cannot believe that this hotel is even "associated" with Country Club Plaza. I would never stay there again!
