Excellent hotel

by Catie E

This hotel is very clean & a convenient location! Victoria at the front desk was absolutely phenomenal! She went out of her way to make sure our stay was great! Also, Justin with room service was extraordinary with his professionalism! These two employees along with the rest of the staff are so friendly and want to ensure you have a great stay!

Local staying local!

by SuzqzTravels

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Huntsville because I was hosting a convention in the city. This hotel used to be GREAT. However, it is showing its age and lack of attention to details.

One of our breakout rooms had a water leak and had a very musty smell. The convention food was not impressive. I had to change sleeping rooms because my first room smelled like a body builder convention had stayed in it. The 2nd room was not much better in smell. I'm thinking there is something in the duct work.

The view from my room was fabulous as it looked over the downtown park. Also, being an Embassy Suites, my room was large. The comp breakfast was ample. The $10 parking fee is a joke.

With more hotels going in Downtown Huntsville, I suggest you stay elsewhere until this hotel gets revamped.

Family Activities

Indoor Swimming Pool
Onsite at the Embassy Suites Huntsville, kids will love the indoor swimming pool, where they can splash and swim year-round, regardless of the weather. Also, near the pool entrance, there is a game room/video arcade alcove.

Fitness Center
Older children and parents can get their exercise at the fitness center, which is outfitted with treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbent bikes and a variety of dumb bells. A walking or jogging track is also available at the hotel.

Big Spring International Park
For a more scenic venue, guests can venture across the street to Big Spring International Park, a beautiful park in the heart of downtown Huntsville. Named for the underground spring contained within the park, Big Spring is a great place for a run, to fly a kite, or to enjoy a picnic. While you're there, check out the international "gifts" bestowed upon the city and park by such countries as Japan (60 cherry blossom trees), Norway (1929 fog bell) and Great Britain (park bench).

Huntsville Museum of Art
Adjacent to the Big Spring International Park, guests can visit the Huntsville Museum of Art, a small but lovely museum featuring both traveling exhibitions as well as selections from the museum's permanent collection. In fact, the museum has two interactive education galleries that provide a great introduction to art for children. The ART LAB is comprised of hands-on activities covering the basic elements of art, while A Walk Through Time chronicles art history such as the Italian Renaissance, French Impressionist and Modern Art.

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center
Of course, Huntsville's most well-known and popular attraction is the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, located a short drive from the hotel. Here, visitors will learn not only about Huntsville's history in the aerospace arena, but also about America's foray into space, including how we put man on the moon, the evolution of the Space Shuttle program, and continuing developments for living in space. Although this is a museum of sorts with a number of exhibits -- both traveling and permanent -- many are interactive and geared toward visitors of all ages. The center also features a number of kid-centric rides and simulators, plus a preview of Space Camp, where children in grades 4 through 12 can learn about space travel and rocketry. Programs are even available for parents, so the whole family can have a space adventure.

Family Dining

Free Breakfast
Every morning, guests of the Embassy Suites Huntsville enjoy complimentary cooked-to-order and buffet breakfast options in the hotel lobby. Cooked-to-order selections include Belgian waffles, omelets and breakfast meats. Buffet selections include cereals, fruits, yogurt, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and a selection of breads like bagels, toast and pastries. Coffee, juice and milk are available at the beverage stations.

Ruth's Chris Steak House
For lunch and dinner, hotel guests can dine at Ruth's Chris Steak House located on the hotel's first floor. This is an upscale restaurant with a menu to match, so families may want to think twice before choosing this restaurant for a meal, especially if they have young children.

Caffeina's Marketplace
For something light, Caffeina's Marketplace offers Starbucks beverages along with a selection of pastries, sandwiches and snacks.

Complimentary Evening Reception
At the nightly reception, guests can enjoy a selection of complimentary beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks, such as chips and salsa. Room service is also provided by Ruth's Chris Steak House.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Parking
Valet only parking is available to guests.

The Art of Smart Timing
Huntsville is a great place to visit year-round, but it does get cold during the winter. Families may want to plan a trip during the warmer months so that they can enjoy all of the city's many outdoor sites and family attractions. Every June through October, the Huntsville Ghost Walk shares the back story of the city's other-worldly residents.

Getting There
Many major airline carriers provide service to Huntsville International Airport, which is located 12 miles from downtown Huntsville and the hotel.

Getting Around
The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, and may be reached by car via several major roadways.

For Mom and Dad
When planning an evening alone together, the Embassy Suites Hotel has just the right offerings for mom and dad. Indulge in the ultimate relaxation with a couple's massage at the hotel's Spa Botanica and then enjoy a wonderful meal together at Ruth's Chris Steak House right in the hotel. Afterward, head next door to the Von Braun Center for a concert or play. Now that's a great date!
