Accor ruining the Fairmont brand - Platinum level and business guests be aware

by Stephan M

Had major issues last stay, was promised by previous general manager verbally upon my return to the property an unparalleled service but failed.

-Check in took more than an hour and staff had no power when it came to accommodating platinum guest and attempted to up-sell a room; this meant property cared more about revenue then guest service recovery which I found offensive with major issues from previous stay. A manger came to rectify the situation after an hour. As I was here for business and needed a larger room, I had to settle for what lower floor even my profile stated I would prefer higher floor. Fortunately, the property has completed their renovations and noise level was acceptable compared to last year.

-Problems with Notch 8 dining. I set up business lunch for 4 and we were crunched for time. The food took over 45 minutes to arrive and food delivery quality was extremely poor. The sandwiches were extremely dry and found an insect mixed with my salad and colleagues received food under cooked. Furthermore, I desperately needed wifi connection but was unable to connect to it at the restaurant. This ended my business meeting during lunch not an ideal situation. Will not return to dining here ever again.

-Service at some parts of the hotel was outstanding. Housekeeping kept supplies well in stock and room was serviced promptly. Turn down service was well done.

After years of booking at this property, I will not be returning. I will be changing business bookings to Marriott where Platinum/Titanium guests do not have to fight with front desk. Seems like Accor that took over Fairmont has taken away many of its amazing core benefits and changed to revenue driven model than unparalleled service. Platinum, business and event planners be aware; it is not what it used to be.

Disabled Room bathroom situation

by Belfast-Naomi

Whilst my 3 day stay in the hotel Fairmont was exteremly classy and stylish with all the Dior and Gucci stores inside the hotel I was let down by the arrangement of the accessble shower. The shower seat was EXTREMELY FAR AWAY from the actually shower head,so when the shower was on,I was so far back that the water didn't even reach me!!! The shower was badly designed so the seat was unusable for me and unsafe to use whilst on my own in the room. The sink was high aswell and I had difficulty getting my hands into the basin to wash hands, face and teeth etc.

All other things in the room where upto the standard of which I was led to believe. I had enquired about the swimming pool which looked amazing,my room overlooked the pool which was on the roof but didnt overlook downtown and it was set on a roof of a lower building in the property. I had breakfast once in maybe days, everything you might ever had wished for was there to pick from.....coffee tea fresh fruits chefs made a massive display of the mornings cooking and did a great job indeed. Bar staff could have been more people friendly......in my mind bar attendants have to be good with people and chatty, these staff where not and mearly took our drinks orders and had no further conversation with us.

Checking and and out was pain free,no problems what so ever.

The procedure of coming and going from the hotel was frustrating as all exits and entrances I found had steps so this was annoying and embarrassing for me and no staff helped once with doors etc which would have been appreciated so much.

The location is fantastic!! Close to 'happening bars and cool spots' to drink coffee and people watch. Sephora makeup store is within a gentle 8 or 9 min walk,I visited once and bought several things which I cant buy at home in Ireland. Go to A&W for breakfast, its again very close by and if your like me and live your 'Root Beer' you'll b big fan, also there coffee is really good to.
