Yes folks, the facilities are tired and dated. Everything else is acceptable to above average. The beds, bathrooms, TVs and HVAC are all in good shape. The bar and restaurant are clean, the complimentary breakfast is quite good. The regular menu is good but not top-flight. The outdoor pool and courtyard are great when not crowded. Housekeeping, front desk and maintenance crew are all friendly and accommodating.
Summertime Rules: Old Port/waterfront, $350+ per night. Peninsula/airport, $250+. Budget, like The Fireside, $150+ and The Fireside has amenities you won’t find at most budget accommodations.
Posting this review at the end of a 5 night stay and I would gladly stay another 5. Highly recommended.
The 70s decor has been well preserved! If you are OK with a sub standard hotel then this is the place for you! My room smelled, everything about it was old, I was in my room as little as possible. Chair had what looked like a chewed up berry and there was about an inch of dust on the chair, all the furniture & carpet was full of spots and dirty. Not a place I would recommend at all.
