Average stay experience in downtown Halifax

by Balthazar G

Presently staying for two weeks in Halifax for business. Room is decent enough in deluxe, hotel location is accessible within distance to a few spots such as Halifax Seaport Farmers Market, Atlantic Grocery Store (24hrs), car rental service at the VIA rail etc...

Few disappointment as a Marriott Bonvoy member.
Heated water from the running tap is milky white. Maintenance said they have never seen anything like this. Ask to use cold water and said they will check and get back but never hear back. Drank the disgusting water for first week not knowing what it was in the water. My portable electric water kettle was stench with a layer of white stuff where I show it to maintenance. Just kept asking me to use cold water instead, felt like being shuff off the question. But hey what's the point of having hot water then? I am a frequent traveler and stayed few times in other Marriott and Starwoods hotel chains, never had an experience like this.

Couple of times room tag "Do not disturb" was off before leaving for work, at the end of the day, room wasn't clean and garbage not cleared. Water was not also being replaced. One or two power sockets on the wall wasn't working. All I need is clean water, not much on the cleaning as I am pretty neat and tidy as a traveler. Don't think housekeeping is meticulous enough...

Really surprise there isn't breakfast spread provided rather than ala-carte menu.
No wine glass in the room, no water glass in the room. Only paper cups which doesn't really sort of a eco-friendly hotel.

There was a major blackout one evening in Halifax, End up eating dinner in the room with no lights. Puzzled a hotel such as Four Points Sheraton do not have a back up power generator. Even some bars outside they do, but not a hotel?

Hanging on to the last week and I am outta of here, lucky for me...already looking at sending a complaint email to Marriott Bonvoy.....
