Overview

Opened in 1997, Four Seasons Atlanta was the first venture for this luxury hotel in the South, and once you arrive, you can see why it was awarded the honor. Located in Atlanta’s trendy Midtown, known as the “Heart of the Arts,” Four Seasons is surrounded by the arts and culture that make Midtown one of the top cultural destinations in the South. In fact, there are nine museums, concert halls and cultural centers within a mile of the hotel. With the Woodruff Arts Center, High Museum of Art, the 14th Street Playhouse and the historic Fox Theatre among its neighbors, it is heaven for families looking for vacation brimming with arts and sophistication. And if you enjoy walking city streets as you tour a city, then you’ll love to know that Midtown is the most walkable area of Atlanta (with less congestion than the streets downtown and in trendy Buckhead) and is also a hop, skip and jump to the emerald jewel of the city: Piedmont Park.

The Four Seasons is right in the middle of a “refresh” and some guestrooms have already been renovated with a contemporary fresh look, circular couches around a desk/table and bathrooms with a large shower. The renovation will continue throughout 2016 as all the guestrooms are updated to the new sleek look.

While Atlanta’s Four Seasons is predominantly a business travel hotel, the catering to families that has made Four Seasons legendary is at the ready the moment families enter the lobby. When families book a room, the Four Seasons staff makes sure to get the name and age of your child, so they can roll out the red carpet for your little starlet. At check-in, the front desk rolls out a kid-sized desk, where your child can check in just like mommy and daddy by signing their name and receiving a faux key card. And that’s just the beginning. If you let the front desk know the ages of your children, they will customize sample itineraries to explore the Big Peach. The hotel also boasts one of the most spacious year-round indoor pools in Atlanta that will appeal to toddlers, tweens and teens just as much as it will their harried parents.

Exceeded every expectation

by Carrboro-Haverford

My husband and I rarely agree about a hotel as we appreciate different amenities. After a weekend at the Four Seasons, we came to same the conclusion -- this is one of the best "city" hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff is lovely and helpful, the room is spacious and spotless and the water pressure in the shower is excellent. The saltwater pool is impressive and perfect for swimming laps. I do not have one complaint or suggestion. The search is over -- when in Atlanta one should stay at the Four Seasons. We hope to return.

Family Activities

Pool
Like a long distance trip where you want to whip out a variety of things to keep a child busy, the Four Seasons staff understands that and has an array of things to keep your kids hands and minds busy. The family activities at the hotel revolve around the amazing indoor saltwater lap pool dressed in a neo-classic design. You simply step into the pool area conveniently located on the second floor lobby level and can't help but feel the stress lift from your shoulders. The 3-to 4-foot deep pool also features a whirlpool bath, a sun terrace and men's and women's locker rooms with its own steam room and sauna. Did you forget to bring pool toys? Need some floats? Never worry -- the friendly staff will happily provide whatever your kids need to enjoy their pool time. Ready for a snack? The pool menu includes child-friendly menu items. An adult must accompany children under 13, but lounging in this idyllic setting bathed in natural light will be as relaxing as any resort.

Kids for All Seasons
Upon arrival, children will be given a child-friendly map so they can explore every nook and cranny of the hotel -- part of the hotel's Kids for All Seasons program. Once in the room, a chocolate chip cookie will be hand-delivered with the child's name spelled out in chocolate. As for in-room entertainment, kids can also easily check out movies and the front desk will happily supply some popcorn so they munch away while watching. iPads and video games are also available on loan and they even have child-sized hotel robes so kids can enjoy the same special touches as their parents. At bath time, the hotel service will spell out your child's name with sponges and before their tiny heads hit the pillow, they'll notice it's decorated with their name. Kids are even encouraged to continue decorating the pillowcase during their stay as a fond souvenir.

Spa
If you would like to schedule yourself a treatment at the spa, you'll be happy to know your children can, too. There are mini-me spa treatments for ages 5 and over, such as a manicures/pedicures, and teens will love the anti-acne facial treatment that will leave them fresh-faced and smiling.

Teen Activities
Speaking of teens, they will no doubt enjoy the option to watch Netflix in their hotel room with their home subscription, an opportunity to make their own pizza or pasta dish from the restaurant's menu, take a tour of the rooftop garden with the chef, or just hang out and take some selfies on the lovely rooftop terrace. Teens love anything you can tweet about and there is plenty of lively updates and photo ops here.

Family Dining

Park 75
Under the expert direction of Chef Robert Gerstenecker and his mission to provide fresh, natural and local sustainable foods to your dinner table, you can expect a fabulous family breakfast or brunch feast at Park 75. And since he is a dad himself, he takes feeding children to heart and serves up food that his own daughter would enjoy. The restaurant polled kids on what they would like to eat and made sure it was on the menu. From healthier options like sliced apples with Nutella to veggie delights of fresh carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and ranch dressing to tried-and-true favorites like Kraft macaroni and cheese and PB&J, your child will definitely leave with a full belly. Plus, children 5 and under eat free, so what an opportunity to try to get them to eat their veggies! During the meal, there are also coloring sheets of the chef himself available and iPads on loan if you want to keep those mouths closed and hands busy while they wait for the meal.

Bar Margot
Open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, Bar Margot offers both a children's menu and much for parents to savor. The restaurant is an ideal spot to sample the chef's handmade pasta, charcuterie and cheeses, as well as exquisite coffees and espressos. From the Sapelo Island Clam Risotto to the Twice Fried Chicken or wood grilled lamb ribs, parents will have a taste of the South they will savor with their travel memories.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
I Need It Now Program
From complimentary hot cider in winter, to fresh, cold lemonade to quench your thirst in summer, the Four Seasons is all about the special touches to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The "I Need It Now" program, provides guests with the things you need but often forget, from baby bottles to sneakers. If you forgot anything, just ask.

Rooftop Terrace Tours
You will also want a tour in the growing months of the Rooftop Terrace that overlooks the city's skyline and houses their outdoor garden and bee aviary. The chefs will be happy to give a foodie tour to young and old alike -- just check with the front desk for what might be available. Kids especially love to see the bee aviary, where the chef harvests his own honey and homemade lip balm. The chef will often prepare food on his Big Green Egg for some fabulous barbecue under the city stars.

Packages
The hotel also offers special Bed and Breakfast and family-friendly packages in the summer. Complimentary standard Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, however, you may purchase high-speed Wi-Fi for an additional $14.95.

The Art of Smart Timing
While weekdays in Atlanta are bustling with business travel, the weekends are rife with families enjoying the host of tourist destinations the city offers. Summer and the holiday season, and school breaks tend to be the most popular times for families to visit the Big Peach and staying on the weekend will keep you from paying the high business rates found during the weekdays. One caution about the weather: Atlanta isn't called Hotlanta for nothing. Try to avoid the dog days of summer, typically July and August, and consider planning your trip during the milder weather typically in spring or fall. When is the best value? Christmas break, when the bustling city slows down to a stroll, and the cost of hotel rates and special packages comes down.

Getting There
The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is roughly 13 miles away from the Four Seasons Atlanta. MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) provides bus and rail service in the Atlanta area. Guests can catch the MARTA rail directly in the airport Domestic Terminal at the end of baggage claim. Visitors should take the train North to Arts Center Marta Station on the red and gold rail line. Then take the West Peachtree exit out of the station and turn left on West Peachtree Street. Walk one block to 14th Street and turn left again. The hotel is a short walk down on the right. Although car rentals, Uber, and airport shuttles are also readily available at the airport, it is best to take MARTA to avoid long traffic delays during the week, which are unfortunately commonplace in Atlanta.

Getting Around
A complimentary hotel Tesla is available for all guests on a first-come, first-served basis for use in a 7-mile radius of the hotel. Car rentals can be easily arranged in advance with the concierge or there are a wide selection of car rental agencies within 2 miles of the hotel. The hotel does offer valet parking, or you could park your car at any independent parking lot adjacent to the hotel. The Four Seasons is located roughly five minutes from the downtown attractions and 15 minutes to the shopping mecca of Buckhead.

For Mom and Dad
Remember the concierge needs 24-hours notice to help you schedule babysitting services, so be sure to plan your date night before you arrive. Parents can also book a personal trainer at the fitness center or even experience yoga on the rooftop terrace when the weather is suitable. If you plan on booking a spa service, be sure to book in advance of your stay because weekends book up fast.

And you are in the heart of arts, so be sure to book a show or some fine dining while you're in Atlanta. But if you want to stay close to the kids, Bar Margot hosts a DJ every Friday and Saturday night from 9 p.m. to midnight for some mingling and toasts to the new friends you meet.
