Overview

Kids are going to love the bunk bed half-hidden in the wall of the Queen Bunk Suite’s living room. The suite is ideal for a large family needing enough sleeping space for everyone to be comfortable. The entire hotel has been newly renovated, and it shows with beautiful furnishings and extra amenities that a family might need. Every room contains a full kitchen — one of the biggest we’ve seen at any hotel in Juneau — so you’ll feel right at home when preparing snacks and meals. If you’re too tired from sightseeing for in-room cooking, there’s a casual pizza place right next door.

Frontier Suites is in a great location on the Glacier Highway, about 5 miles from the famed Mendenhall Glacier. A little further down the highway is downtown Juneau, with its museums, historic buildings and quirky shops. You’ll also have easy access to a large number of boat tour companies that offer whale watching, sailing and glacier adventures. The hotel’s location, amenities, and oversized rooms make it an ideal stay for a family.

Great bargain hotel with full kitchen suite near the Juneau Airport

by Condornarvik67

I stayed here 3 nights in Rm 2203 at the end of July of 2019. I flew here from Fairbanks and then went on to Vancouver from here on a pleasure trip.

The hotel provides free shuttle service from and to the airport which I took full advantage of. I just called them when I needed it upon arrival. Outside baggage claim you have to cross to the other side to get picked up.

When you walk in the lobby, which is small, you might start thinking the hotel is a bit down. But when you get to your room you will fee a lot better.

Upon entering my room the bathroom was on the immediate right with tub/shower in the back with toilet and sink/counter(nearest door). There were some complimentary shampool, etc.. There. There was a mounted hair dryer.

Continuing down the hall you come to the kitchen on your right. There is a full refrig on your right. Opposite the refrig is the kitchen sink. In the very back is a conventional oven with 4 electrical burn tops. There is a microwave and a dishwasher in the kitchen as well. I took a cursory look in the cabinents and saw plates, bowls, cutlery, along with pots/pans and associated tools. In essence, you could cook everything you want in it. Great for someone who would want to prepare all his meals instead of eating out all the time.

Past the kitchen you come to the bedroom area. The bedrrom area had a two chair table for dinning. There was a countertop with the phone off from the bed. The flat screen(42 inch I would guess) is mounted on the wall in front of the bed.

There are windows all along the exterior side. Three sets of them side by side. The middle one had a sliding window which you could open to air out the room. Good shades you can close if you wanted total darkness..

There was a golding door closet with plenty of hangers in it. I forgot to mention there is a ceiling fan above the bed which was very nice.

The airport and hotel are located about 9 miles from downtown Juneau. There are plenty of restaurants and other things in the area. There is a Dominos Pizza just out the front of the hotel and about 60 yards to the right.

There are a number grocery stores in the area. There is a Safeway about half mile or so from the hotel. I only ate at one restaurant nearby called Mi Casa, Mexican restaurants which was very good. Hence there are plenty of restaurants nearby to choose from if you want to eat out.

Overall, I think this hotel would be a great place to stay especially if you want to be able to prepare your own food. Make a great corporate apartment for business travelers. Also if they had larger rooms for families it would serve a great option.

Wifi was fair at the hotel though it intermittmentingly went out. I quickly solved it by reconnecting to the guest network. When connected the spped was good. I used the free service.

I should mention the hotel offered free breakfast vouchers for limited breakfast which you could use to pay a portion of the more expensive breakfast items if you wanted. I did not take advantage of the breakfast while I was there.

For the room rate they offer it is a great bargain when you have a kitchen with it. I would certainly stay here again if I came back to Juneau.

Near the airport but shuttle ride not guaranteed

We arrived back in Juneau by ferry late afternoon and had a 7am flight out of the airport. The room was a lovely suite - bedroom, living area, kitchen, clean bathroom, I was disappointed with the shuttle service. Before we left Juneau for a visit to Glacier Bay National Park, we stopped at Frontier Suites to book our pick up from the ferry shuttle & our early morning airport shuttle. We were informed that 5 days in advance was too early to book. We took their business card which had an email contact address. We emailed our shuttle requests 2 days before and were informed that shuttle trips could not be booked until we had arrived back in Juneau. Their email provided the phone number to call when the ferry arrived. The shuttle did arrive at the ferry dock a short time after we called. We were not a fortunate with the shuttle to the airport. Frontier Suites had already booked the shuttle to pick up people at their sister hotel at the time we wanted transport. There wasn't enough room for us Our choice was to take the shuttle 3 hours (4am) before our flight or at 6am when the shuttle returned from its pre-booked run. Yes, Frontier Suites did provide us with a shuttle to the airport in time to make our flight.
