Don't book the Cruise/Park Package!

by Sue O

We boarded a cruise in Long Beach and were looking for a place to stay and leave our car. This hotel advertises a cruise/park package where you can "stay with us the night before your cruise, and leave your car for an additional $20". (direct quote) When I booked online I chose the cruise and park package which was $20 more than the other rooms so I figured we were good. When I got there I was told that a charge of $20 PER DAY would be added to my bill for each day our car was parked there. This is not stated anywhere in the booking information. The charge at the pier is $20 per day so why would I want to pay that much to leave my car at the hotel and then pay for transportation to the pier (there is no shuttle)? When I asked what the extra $20 I had paid when booking was for if I was going to have to pay an additional $20 per day, I was told it was for the privilege of parking there. Really? We ended up cancelling our cruise/park reservation and booking a normal room for $20 less, then we parked at the pier. Having said that, our room was fine and the front desk staff did their best - they were just following policy.

Was probably a great place in the 80's

First off, this hotel has not been associated with Best Western since April of 2019. I can corroborate many of the conditions of the previous reviewer. We had a ship's reunion at this property from 2-5 Oct. The breakfast items on the buffet did not vary from day to day, and did not contain ANY meats or potatoes. They ran out of Raisin Bran on Wednesday, and by Saturday they still hadn't gotten more. There were signs in the bar/restaurant area stating all food or drink had to be consumed in that space, and not taken to other areas. No complimentary coffee anywhere. Housekeeping was spotty at best. Got no washcloths one day, no clean glasses another. The staff were friendly, but that doesn't override the poor conditions of the building.
